Our commitment
RetrofitReady is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and improve accessibility continuously. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance status
RetrofitReady is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This means that most of the content conforms to the accessibility standard.
What we've built in:
- Full keyboard navigation — every feature works without a mouse
- Screen reader compatibility (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver tested)
- High contrast mode (WCAG AAA ratios)
- Dyslexia-friendly font option (OpenDyslexic)
- Text resize controls (small, medium, large) persisted across sessions
- Simple mode — strips non-essential content for cognitive accessibility
- Calm mode — removes animations, reduces visual complexity
- Reading guide — highlights one line at a time
- Voice input on all calculator questions (Chrome, Edge, Safari)
- Read aloud on results pages using browser speech synthesis
- Skip to main content link on every page
- ARIA live regions on calculator so screen readers hear results update
- All form inputs labelled correctly
- All images have descriptive alt text
- All animations respect prefers-reduced-motion
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- No colour-only information — all statuses have text labels
- One question per screen in the grant calculator
- No time limits anywhere on the platform
- Helpful error messages — e.g. "Please enter a valid Irish Eircode e.g. D01 F5P2"

European Accessibility Act
RetrofitReady is designed to comply with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) 2025, which requires that digital products and services provided in the EU are accessible to people with disabilities. Our white-label calculator product meets EAA requirements, meaning organisations embedding our calculator on their website inherit full accessibility compliance.
